Danielle volunteered on a bus trip from the base that went to Stonehenge so I got to go free. The children have seen it before (on a field trip for school) so they didn't think it was such a big deal - just a pile of rocks. But Stonehenge is interesting. It is about 5,000 years old and all of the rocks were brought in from another part of the country and the heaviest weights 5 tons. The archaeologists still haven't really decided why Stonehenge was built. They have lots of theories but no solid evidence.
Salisbury was built around 1200 and has lots of historic buildings. We enjoyed visiting the Salisbury Cathedral - it was quite beautiful! It now houses England's oldest working clock and one of the four original copies of the Magna Carta written in 1217 - the people's demand for fair
treatment from the King.
